About Us

Driveline Mechanics aims to be a website that takes an unconventional view on scouting pitchers and position players by combining traditional and nontraditional scouting methods and integrating those grades with top-notch performance analysis backed up by advanced statistics commonly found on sites like Baseball Prospectus or The Hardball Times (just to name two).

Kyle Boddy, the founder of this site, hopes to bring a different view on scouting mechanics to baseball enthusiasts everywhere. By not only focusing on what will produce the best performance, but also how players can do it safely, we aim to cut down on injurious flaws that are often touted as “good mechanics.” With baseball salaries rising, front offices strive to keep their players healthy and productive over the length of their careers to maximize the value of their resources, and simply analyzing pitching mechanics from the traditional point of view has proven to land almost all pitchers on the disabled list at one point or another. We can do better!

Chad Gonczy is a contributor to this site focusing on the statistical and sabermetric side of the game. He is a baseball fan first, a medical student second, and came to sabermetrics and performance analysis through the world of poker. His collegiate baseball experience has led him to to view the game in terms of what is important- using any edge you can find to win games! He can be contacted at chad@drivelinemechanics.com.
